Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has reiterated his commitment to the club by stating that he rejected a head coaching job offer from Accra Hearts of Oak to join the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

In an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, the Ghana Premier League winner highlighted this as he slammed critics amidst growing pressure due to the club’s poor run.

Since the commencement of the second half of the league in February, Kotoko have won just one of five games and have suffered losses to Karela United, Kpando Heart of Lions and Accra Lions.

While stating that both foreign and local clubs will sign him on as a head coach in a heartbeat should he leave Kotoko, Dr. Ogum affirmed his commitment to the Kotoko course by stating that he rejected the chance to coach the Porcupine Warriors arch rival Hearts of Oak. “I was linked to the Hearts of Oak job; if I wanted to go, I would have done it. It was just there for me to go; they called me, they engaged me. I could have gone. I said no I will not go and they didn’t even understand why…It’s all about Kotoko.”

Kotoko rank eighth in the league standings and play Nations FC next.
