West Ham United manager, David Moyes, believes Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus deserved to be awarded a penalty in West Ham’s game against Newcastle.
He said this in an interview with The Hammers official channel after West Ham blew a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 to Newcastle United in the English Premier League at St. James Park.
Kudus scored and provided an assist in the loss as he continues to shine in his debut season in the Premier League. The 23 year old has seven goals and five assists in 25 league games.
The former Ajax Amsterdam player’s interesting encounter with a ball boy at the St. James Park went viral on social media but Moyes believes Kudus should have been awarded a penalty in the first half after his brilliant run was halted by Newcastle defender Dan Burn. “I’ve not had the chance to look back at it yet, but feeling was he (Dan Burn) pushed Mo in the back when he was going through on goal. That would have been a red card and could have changed the game.”
West Ham take on Tottenham Hotspurs next on Tuesday, April 2.
