Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus starred on his return to action after missing Ghana’s friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda during the international break.
The 23 year old scored and provided an assist in West Ham’s 4-3 loss to Newcastle United in the English Premier League at St. James’ Park.
Former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Kudus, in the process, registered his seventh goal and fifth assist in his debut English Premier League season.
After scoring late in the first half to give West Ham a 2-1 lead, Kudus sprinted towards a ball boy and asked for his chair to enact his famous celebration of just taking a seat on an advertising board that has evolved into using one of the plastic chairs ball boys sit on during games.
Kudus hit the new form of his celebration after bagging a brace in West Ham’s 5-0 win over SC Freiburg in the Europa League that caught on quickly on social media.
However, against Newcastle, the ball boy denied Kudus his chair forcing Kudus to resort to sitting on the advertising board to celebrate his goal.
Despite Kudus’ fine play, West Ham failed to hold on to a 3-1 lead and ended up losing 4-3 with Harvey Barnes scoring twice including the winning goal.
