Save Ghana Football movement quizzes GFA on appointment of Otto Addo as Black Stars head coach

The convers of the Save Ghana Football movement have raised questions over the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to appoint Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars.

The group, who led a demonstration against the current state of Ghana football in February, also questioned the make-up of his backroom staff.

In light of the dismissal of Chris Hughton, the GFA returned to Otto Addo, the man who qualified the Black Stars to the 2022 FIFA World Cup to steer the affairs of the men’s senior national team for the next 34 months.

After his appointment, John Paintsil, Fatawu Dauda and Joseph Laumann were all added to the backroom staff to assist the now former talent coach of Borussia Dortmund.

This decision to appoint these officials has been described by the group as “insensitive to the Ghanaian public”.

According to the movement, Otto Addo, after Ghana’s exit from the 2022 World Cup, made some damning remarks which they believe does not make him fit to represent the country.

The movement also questions the search committee led by Mark Addo on how they concluded on Otto Addo when he barely meets the criteria they put out to the public.

Otto Addo will be leading the Black Stars in the March international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in Marrakech, Morocco.
