Dreams FC’s Ofori McCarthy has expressed his delight at working with Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito as they prepare for the upcoming second-leg match against Zamalek on Sunday.

Their partnership dates back to 2021 when they achieved success together during the Black Satellites’ triumph at the U-20 AFCON in Mauritania.

Now, the pair are on the brink of securing a spot in the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, if they can secure a good result against Zamalek.

McCarthy praised Zito ahead of the crucial match in Kumasi and further shared insights with Citi Sports about their journey in the competition so far.

It’s a pleasure working under him [Abdul Karim ZITO] because he has seen it all.

He’s a good coach with a lot of experience.

I’ve been with him at the national team, in 2021 when we won the AFCON U20 in Mauritania, so I think he has a lot of experience and I think the confidence he has that’s what he always put in so much whenever we go to onto the field to play.

Ofori McCarthy, a member of the U20 team that secured Gold in the recent African Games under Head Coach Desmond Ofei’s guidance, celebrated victory as they triumphed over Uganda in the final held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Now, McCarthy sets his sights on further glory, aiming to bolster his trophy collection by securing the CAF Confederation Cup.

He and his team are poised for a crucial second-leg encounter against Zamalek on April 28th, with hopes of advancing to the next stage of the competition.

Dreams held their first training session yesterday after settling down in Kumasi ahead of the big clash on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
