Black Stars forward Inaki Williams says his decision to play international football for Ghana rather than Spain has been beneficial for him.
He said this in an interview with Club del Deportista with the comments coming in the wake of Athletic Bilbao’s 2-0 loss to Real Madrid.
Williams featured in the game that had younger brother Nico Williams miss the match up due to an overload in the muscles of his right leg.
Being born in Spain to Ghanaian parents, Williams was eligible to play for either country before opting for Ghana but has just a goal to his credit in 17 games. Despite the low goal production, Williams is fine with his decision.
“Admittedly, things didn’t unfold as we all hoped but both in terms of sports and personally, it has been beneficiary for me. In fact, I believe I am experiencing one of my best moments, thanks to this decision.”
For the 2023-2024 Spanish La Liga season, Williams has nine goals and three assists in 27 games and competed with Ghana at the 2023 AFCON that ended in a first round exit.
