Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Board Member, Vincent Sowah-Odotei, believes supporters of Hearts and The Phobians bitter rival, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, must catch up to the modern responsibilities of supporting a football club.

He said this in an exclusive interview on Citi TV’s Football Made in Ghana as Hearts head into the final phase of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

Hearts rank ninth in the 18 team league standings after 26 games and Sowah-Odotei said the club’s on-field results have been disappointing. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

However, in the wake of Kotoko fans storming a training session to demand the sack of head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, the veteran football administrator called for supporters of both clubs to get in tune with modern responsibilities of a football club supporter. Kotoko rank 11th in the league and have registered six losses in seven league games with its last game ending in a 2-0 loss to Dreams FC.

“To me, I believe Hearts and Kotoko, there’s one common denominator; our supporters must begin to catch up with the modern responsibilities of supporters. Supporters, management, board, we all have boundaries and we must respect the boundaries and allow everybody to have their space and take decisions.”

Vincent Sowah Odotei

“I believe we’ve been victims of our own internal issues that has conveyed a sort of chaos to our stakeholders have taken advantage of it and more or less brought Hearts of Oak and Kotoko on their knees.”
