Palmer is the only Chelsea player to have claimed the award since it was first given out following the 2019/20 season, when Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold lifted the trophy.
Prior to his recent 22nd birthday, Palmer became only the third player in Premier League history to reach 30-plus goal involvements in a single season while aged 21 or younger.

Palmer fought off fierce competition to claim the title, with Manchester City duo Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, plus Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie also on the shortlist.
