Chairman of the Accra Basketball League (ABL), Ayitey Bulley, has described the actions of individuals towards developing and promoting basketball in the league and Ghana at large, as heartwarming.
He said this with respect to Spintex Knights Basketball Club emerging as winners of the ABL Men’s Division I league last season in its debut campaign in the top division.
Bulley, in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, was full on with board individuals investing in the sport to provide elite competition to Government backed Security Service teams.
“Even if corporate Ghana adopts some of these teams to help them develop and compete and play more actively, it will be good for the game in general. We cannot expect everything to come from Ghana. It is good and very heartwarming that individuals are taking it upon themselves in garnering resources to put behind developing youth especially in basketball so it’s a big win for basketball.”
The 2024 ABL has commenced with 10 teams competing in the Men’s Division I and Women’s Division and 20 teams competing in the Men’s Division II.
