Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club have ended their winless run in emphatic fashion and head coach Aboubakar Ouattara believes the team’s prior struggles was down to mental challenges his players had to deal with.
He said this in a post game interview after Hearts beat Berekum Chelsea 3-0 at the Golden City Park in Berekum to end its poor run of form.
Hearts had lost five of six league games in the lead up to the Chelsea tie after making a fine start in the second half of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.
Goals from Hamza Issah, Linda Mtange and Kassim Cisse sealed the big win over Chelsea that is coached by former Hearts head coach, Samuel Boadu.
In his post game interview, Ouattara blamed Hearts stuttering form on mental challenges his players had to deal with.
“I expected to win. It’s football; we can win by 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 but we needed the points. I told you we had a mental problem. We have some people who want to pollute the minds of the boys…it was a psychology problem.”

Hearts take on Aduana Stars next on May 17 in Accra.
