Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club goalkeeper Frederick Asare has apologized to fans of the club for the team’s poor performance this season.
Kotoko are ranked 10th in the league with 40 points in the 18 team Ghana Premier League standings on the back of winning 11, drawing seven and suffering 12 losses in 30 league games respectively.
The Porcupine Warriors head into a crucial game against bitter rival Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, May 26 after suffering a 2-1 loss to Berekum Chelsea at the Berekum Golden City Park.
Chelsea forward Misack Afriyie scored a header from a corner kick in the 96th minute to settle the tie and end Kotoko’s quest to extend their unbeaten run to four games.
“First of all, I would apologize to the supporters for what is going on currently. Everyone knows we are ranked low and it’s not really good for a big club like this and it’s not really good also for the supporters so I would like to apologize” he said to Kotoko media.

Like Kotoko, Hearts of Oak have fared poorly in the 2023-2024 season thus far and are ranked 12th in the lead up to the Kotoko clash in Kumasi.

24 year old Asare has made 16 appearances thus far this season and has conceded 10 goals while keeping nine clean sheets.
