Black Stars defender Joseph Aiddo was visibly moved by a raft of support from Celta Vigo teammates who congratulated him for making his return to football after a nine month layoff due to injury.
The 28 year old played 16 minutes on his return as Celta Vigo beat Portuguese side Gil Vicente 1-0 in a preseason game. Aidoo subbed into the game in the 74th minute to replace Carl Starfelt.
Aidoo suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon early in the 2023-2024 season and proceeded to undergo an extensive rehab process to get back to full fitness.
After completing the game, several teammates hugged and patted Aidoo on the back as the Tema born player wiped away tears as he took in the moment before walking off to applause from fans.
Prior to his injury riddled campaign last season, Aidoo played 32 and 35 games in Spain’s La Liga in back to back seasons entrenching him as a key component in Celta’s team.
