Black Queens midfielder Azumah Bugre has indicated that the team will benefit immensely from playing its friendly game against Japan.

Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team will play Japan, ranked seventh in the world, on Saturday, July 13 at 6:20 AM in Japan.

Japan is preparing to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris but the Black Queens won’t do same and Bugre expressed disappointment over Ghana’s inability to compete in Paris later this year. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

However, Bugre who plays for Swedish club IFK Norrkoping, outlined the positives in competing against a high profile opponent in Japan as Ghana eyes competing in next year’s AFCON.

“Japan is one of the best women’s football teams in the world so having a friendly game with them is actually going to give us a fair and clear view of where the team is, where we are supposed to level and where we are supposed to maintain.”

22 players arrived in Japan on Tuesday, July 9 and held its first training session later in the day; Ghana beat Namibia 3-2 on aggregate to qualify to the 2025 AFCON that will be held in Morocco.
