Ghana's Under 20 Women's Football Team won gold at the 2023 African Games

Black Princesses head coach, Yussif Basigi, has stated that his team is sure to get at least a week in Colombia ahead of the start of the 2024 FIFA Women’s Under 20 World Cup in Colombia before the competition kicks off.

This year’s Under 20 Women’s World Cup runs from August 31 to September 22 in the South American nation with Ghana set to make its sixth consecutive appearance at the competition.

Ghana is in Group E with Austria, New Zealand and former World Champions Japan with the top two ranked nations automatically qualifying to the next stage.

The Black Princesses are looking to progress to the Round of 16 stage for the first time and Basigi believes his side is motivated to do so but will strive to get to Colombia quite early to get comfortable with the altitude.

“The authorities concerned know what it takes. The timeline is also a factor so we need to acclimatize because over there we have altitude so I know we will get there some few weeks or days before the competition begins.”
