Steve Cooper has stated that Jordan Ayew was keen on moving from Crystal Palace to play for Leicester City while reacting to Jordan Ayew’s first goal for his new side.
Jordan Ayew scored and assisted in Leicester’s 4-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup. His goal came off a thumping strike just outside the penalty box in the 38th minute.
The veteran Black Stars forward joined Leicester City from Crystal Palace on a two year deal that included add-ons and he made a bright start to his career with The Foxes by scoring in his first start.
In his post game interview after seeing Jordan Ayew score his debut goal and his side score the big win, Cooper praised Jordan Ayew’s abilities and his keenness to join the club.
“It (Ayew’s goal) was really important in the game because we needed attacking players to do something to make a difference. He did that. He had a good impact in the game, scored, got the right amount of minutes and that’s something we would have written if we could have planned it.”
“He’s obviously an experienced player and he’ll be determined to do well for us now in the Premier League. He was so keen to come here and we look forward to involving him and we’re going to need him alongside everyone else as well.”
