Black Stars defender Nicholas Opoku has made his debut for Turkish Super League side Kasimpasa mere hours after signing for the team.
Opoku featured in the team’s 1-1 draw with Hatayspor after signing a two year deal. Opoku joined Kasimpasa from French side Amiens SC and his new deal will end on June 30, 2026. Opoku moved from Amiens via a free transfer.
In his first outing for Kasimpasa, 27 year old Opoku played 82 minutes in the contest and was replaced by Kenneth Omeruo before Nuno Da Costa scored the equalizer in the 91st minute.
In 82 minutes, Opoku made two clearances, blocked a shot, made two interceptions and had three total tackles. Opoku won three ground duels and wasn’t dribbled past in his time on the pitch.
Opoku has 18 appearances for the Black Stars under his belt with a goal to his credit. He was part of the Black Stars 2023 Africa Cup of Nations roster. Ghana exited the competition at the group stage without a win in three Group B games.
