Head coach of Angola’s National Men’s Football Team, Pedro Goncalves, has called for expectations of the team to be measured despite leading the Black Sable Antelopes to a winning start in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Despite bagging the impressive start and being in a strong position to qualify to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco after impressing at the 2023 AFCON with a quarterfinal berth, Goncalves called for expectations for the team to be measured.
“I am pleased with the victory; we have much to develop, and we are not yet at the pinnacle of African football. We are not, so let’s not have illusions! Not in terms of sporting prowess, logistics, or operations… we are not” he said according to azscore.
Angola take on Niger in Luanda on October 7 with a win all but guaranteeing Goncalves’ team’s place at next year’s AFCON.
