Head coach of Ghana’s Under 20 Women’s National Team-the Black Princesses- Yusif Basigi, has expressed how motivated he is as he looks to compete in his second Under 20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Black Princesses will compete in the Under 20 World Cup for the seventh consecutive time later this month with the team scheduled to play against Japan, New Zealand and Austria in Group E.
Ghana takes on Austria to commence its campaign on Monday, September 2 at 22:00 GMT in Colombia and is seeking to progress beyond the group stage for the first time.
Speaking ahead of the game, Basigi laid out the improvement in his team’s growing comfort in dealing with the altitude in the South American country and his motivation for his second World Cup outing.
“From Day One where we had challenges with the altitude, they struggled a little bit and after one week, they were okay and then we played a game and they showed signs of readiness. As for me, I’m highly motivated. I look cool because it is not every coach that will get this opportunity so when you get it, utilize it very well. There is no pressure on me, I am motivated actually to take part in I would say my second edition.”
