Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has expressed major disappointment over his team’s 1-1 draw with Niger in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Ghana missed out on a win after Niger defender Oumar Sako scored in the 81st minute after the ball broke loose in the penalty box from a corner kick to level the tie.
Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu put Ghana ahead in the game in the 44th minute with a brilliant strike to register his debut goal for the national football team.
The draw result means that Ghana is without a win two games into the 2025 AFCON qualifiers after the Black Stars lost 1-0 to Angola in the preceding game and Addo couldn’t hide his disappointment in the post game presser.
“I’m really really disappointed to be honest because we trained set pieces. We talked about the situations which could happen and the way we defended the last 10 minutes was really really bad. I think in general we had the game under control.”
“We allowed sometimes, some counter situations where we don’t close the gaps really well. It was good in the second half, we controlled them, we had a lot of chances which we didn’t use. Niger also did well especially in the counter attacks but very very disappointed in the way we allow our goals (in).”
