Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has called on his team to defend late game situations better in the wake of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team conceding a late goal to miss out on a win.

Addo made this call in his presser after Ghana conceded in the 81st minute to draw 1-1 with Niger after taking the game’s lead in the 44th minute through defender Alidu Seidu.

The game marked the second time in as many games the Black Stars conceded late; Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola in the lead up to the Niger tie with Angola’s Felicio Milson scoring in the 93rd minute at the Baba Yara Stadium.

After expressing his disappointment over the draw, Addo addressed the need for his team to get better in late game situations. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“Very very disappointed the way we allow our goals. We had a quite cheap goal against Angola and now again this. Just really really disappointed and we have to be on our toes to defend these situations better.”

“I don’t know what to say anymore because…we trained in this kind of situation. Really disappointed to see we collect a goal like this.”

After drawing 1-1 with Niger, Ghana ranks third in Group F behind leaders Angola and Sudan; only the top two ranked nations qualify to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
