President of FC Samartex 1996, Dr. Richard Nsenkyire, has called for his team to pick itself up after getting eliminated from the CAF Champions League.
He said this after Samartex lost 2-0 to Moroccan giant, Raja Casablanca in Morocco in the second leg of the second round of games in the continental competition.
Raja’s win came via goals from Marouane Zila in the 41st minute and Naoufel Zerhouni in the 89th minute.
Winning the second leg gave Raja a 4-2 win on aggregate to progress to the third round after playing out a 2-2 draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In his speech delivered to the team after the loss, Dr. Nsenkyire encouraged his side to use the loss as a learning moment and improve for future challenges.
“Don’t lose hope…it is not the end of the world. The most important thing is we go back, we learn from our mistakes and make sure that we still stay competitive in such a league.

“I know you are all demoralized but the most important thing is not to focus so much on what has happened but to focus on the weaknesses that we have because if we want to be in this CAF Championship then definitely we need to play up to their level. We need to raise our game. We did very well, very very well but our doing well was not enough.”
Samartex’s Champions League elimination comes on the back of fellow Ghana Premier League side, Nsoatreman FC’s elimination from the CAF Confederations Cup. Scroll down to watch full speech. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
