West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus has been named by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo as the captain for Ghana’s 2025 AFCON qualification tie against Sudan on Thursday, October 10 at 16:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Otto Addo confirmed this in a pre-game presser ahead of the Black Stars final training session prior to the crucial ties against Sudan. The second leg takes place in Benghazi, Libya on Monday, October 14.
Kudus is one of the most experienced players in the present iteration of the Black Stars in the absence of Thomas Partey and Andre Dede Ayew.
However, his selection comes after Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku called out Kudus when delivering his fiery address to the Black Stars players after losing 1-0 to Angola and drawing 1-1 with lowly ranked Niger.
“When Kudus you were not born, this team existed. This team was represented” Kurt Okraku fired away at Kudus in the viral speech.

Ghana needs to win at least one of the two games against Sudan to revive its chances of qualifying to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
