Ghana’s representative in the Basketball Africa League (BAL), Spintex Knights Basketball Club, have secured their debut win in the history of the competition.
Knights dominated Benin’s Elan Coton en route to recording an 82-69 win in the opening round of games in the preliminary round of the competition.
Spintex Knights are aiming to secure one of two spots from the West Division’s Group B to qualify to the Elite 16 stage and the club made a winning start to its campaign.
The Thomas Amedeku led side won all quarters bar the third quarter that ended tied on 20 points with Shooting Guard James Amotoe leading the way for Knights.
Amotoe was named the game’s Most Valuable Player Award after registering 28 points, nine rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes.
Knights take on Abidjan Basketball Club next on Friday, October 11 before rounding up its run with a tie against Mighty Barolle from Liberia on Saturday, October 12.
In Group B’s other tie, Abidjan Basket beat Mighty Barolle 88-69.
