Co-Founder of Spintex Knights Basketball Club, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi has laid out the high financial demands the team must satisfy to compete in the first round of the Basketball Africa League.
The reigning Accra Basketball League Champions are set to represent Ghana at the competition in Libya later this month against the likes of Ivorian Champs Abidjan Basketball Club.
Dr. Opoku-Antwi highlighted the finances involved in the trip in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines of the team’s training session and called on financial help from corporate bodies and basketball enthusiasts stating,
“I think our flight ticket is around $26,000 for a team of 20. We would also have to pay registration for every member of the team that is about $1,500 then we pay visa on arrival that is $3,000. For every member of the team, for accommodation and feeding for that period is $60 per player so in all it sums up to about $40,000 for us to achieve this dream.”

Spintex Knights are expected to leave Ghana on October 8 and the competition in Libya is scheduled to end on October 15.
A top two finish qualifies Spintex Knights to the Elite 16 that is scheduled to be held in Cote D’Ivoire.

The team received electrical gadgets from Electroland Ghana to motivate players for the competition.
