Co-Founder of Spintex Knights Basketball Club, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, has stated that the team’s immediate aspiration is to qualify to the Elite 16 stage of the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports during a training session as the club prepares to fly to Libya on October 8 to compete in the tournament.
The BAL is owned and run by the world’s most prestigious basketball league, the National Basketball Association (NBA), and Knights are expected to make its debut in the tournament’s preliminary phase that is scheduled to end on October 15.
After detailing the significant financial cost involved in competing in the tournament, Dr. Opoku-Antwi pointed out that the club wants to register a top two finish to secure qualification to the next round. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“I think we can get as far as our talent. We have a bunch of talented guys on this team who are poised and ready to make a name for themselves and Ghana and for the competition, we have to be first and that is what we want but if not, (getting) second place, we still qualify to the next round so we are geared up to make it work.”
Spintex Knights will take on the likes of Cote D’Ivoire’s Abidjan Basketball Club.
