GPL WK5: Kotoko record back-to-back wins, Nsoatreman put three past Legon Cities

Matchweek 5 of the Ghana Premier League delivered thrilling encounters on Sunday, October 6, 2024, with some key results that will certainly shake up the standings.

✅ 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 – @AsanteKotoko_SC’s 1-0 win over @AccraLionsFC sends them to the top of the league. @Nsoatreman_FC cruise past @LegonCitiesFC with a 3-1 win, while @nationsfcgh beat @DreamsFootballC FC 1-0 in Tuba.

At the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko SC made it back-to-back wins, edging past Accra Lions FC with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Albert Amoah scored the only goal of the game, finding the net in the 48th minute by slotting home Dauda Saaka’s precise out-swinging cross.

The Porcupine Warriors, playing at home, held firm to secure all three points, maintaining their charge towards the top of the table.

In a tight clash, Karela United FC and FC Samartex 1996 shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with both sides failing to break the deadlock in the second half.

Meanwhile, Nsoatreman FC dominated Legon Cities FC, producing an impressive 3-1 win to climb up the ranks, much to the delight of their supporters at the Nana Kronmansah Park.

Goldstars FC also claimed a vital 1-0 win against Bechem United FC, reinforcing their strength on home turf, while Berekum Chelsea FC managed to scrape a 1-0 win over Young Apostles FC in what was a gritty contest.

Elsewhere, at the Tuba Astroturf Dreams FC stumbled at home, falling 0-1 to a determined Nations FC side. The result was a significant upset, as Nations FC left with an unexpected but well-deserved victory.

Finally, Vision FC secured their first win of the season, beating Basake Holy Stars FC 1-0 in a closely fought encounter, which may serve as a turning point in their campaign.

With these results, Matchweek 5 promises an exciting shake-up in the Ghana Premier League standings as teams continue to battle for supremacy.
