The Aquatic Center at the Borteyman Sports Complex will once again buzz with activity on Monday, October 7, 2024, as it hosts the 2024 Africa Aquatics Zone II Junior and Senior Swimming Championships.

Ghana was selected to host the event after Nigeria withdrew from its role as the original host.

Earlier in March, the Borteyman Aquatic Complex was the stage for the 13th African Games, where Ghana managed to secure three medals in swimming.

This time, the spotlight will return to the same venue, with 19 countries [Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Togo, Guinea, Cape Verde, Central Africa Republic, Gabon, Congo DR, Sierra Leone, Senegal etc.] competing for medals across various events including the 100m and 200m freestyle for both men and women, the 400m individual medley, the 50m backstroke, the 4x100m freestyle relay, the 4x200m relay, the 200m backstroke, and the 100m butterfly.

In a format where all events will be direct finals, medals will be awarded over the course of the three-day competition at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.

Having successfully hosted the junior edition of this championship in August 2023—where they clinched 22 medals—Ghana is no stranger to organizing top-tier aquatics events.
