Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club head coach, Aboubakar Ouuattara, has chastized midfielder Salim Adams over the latter’s performance against Aduana Stars.
Hearts drew goalless with Aduana at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon despite playing with a man advantage from the 57th minute due to the dismissal of Aduana’s Rich Mensah.
Adams replaced striker Asamoah Boateng in the 68th minute and misplaced several passes; he missed a big opportunity late in the game to give Hearts the winner too.
Ouattara, in his post-game presser, wasn’t pleased about the former New Edubiase United player’s performance mainly due to putting too much pressure on himself to excel against Aduana and not because the defensive midfielder was featured as a striker off the bench.
“He has played this role (striker) several times but because of the pressure he put on himself before the match, he didn’t perform. When I saw that the defence of the team (Aduana) was tired, I thought Salim’s substitution will make the difference but when he got on, he looked tired more than the player who had gone out.”
Adams returned to Hearts after a brief stint with Major League Soccer side Cincinnati FC.
