Black Stars celebrate win over Mali in Bamako

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has called for Ghana to be primed to take advantage of any slip by Sudan to boost its chances of qualifying to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

He indicated this in his interview after Ghana’s crushing 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers that further reduced Ghana’s chances of making it to Morocco.

In four games in Group F, Ghana ranks third with just two points while second placed Sudan have seven points. Group leaders Angola, have already qualified to the tournament and Ghana needs to win its remaining two games while hoping Sudan lose their remaining two games for the Black Stars to make it to Morocco.

These permutations aren’t lost on Otto Addo who believes that Ghana should be well prepared to take advantage of any slip from Sudan’s end after stating that Ghana was lucky to qualify to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“We have to try as much as possible to do our homework, in case Sudan lose, we should be there so we have to prepare… we have to consider maybe some changes, we have to do everything.”

“We have to turn everything around to bring the best squad to beat Angola (in the next game)” Otto Addo said.

Ghana last missed out on competing in the AFCON in 2004.
