Ahead of Ghana’s 2025 AFCON double header qualifier against Sudan, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has delivered a passionate call to the playing unit to improve its performance in the upcoming games.
He said this in his speech delivered during a team dinner as the Black Stars prepare to play the crucial ties on Thursday, October 10 in Accra and on Monday, October 14 in Benghazi, Libya.
The GFA boss called for the Black Stars players to be committed to the team and took a swipe at the team for delivering a poor performance in the team’s 1-1 draw with lowly ranked Niger.
“Few weeks ago we played against Niger. How did you guys feel when you went back home to your bases having drawn against Niger. How did you feel? Were you happy? Niger. Come on guys you drew against Niger. You drew 1-1 against Niger that was the scoreline. No joke. 1-1 against Niger.”
“Four, five of the players who played in that (Niger) squad, sorry cannot play in my club that is the truth but Ghana played 1-1 against Niger. We saw a Black Stars team without energy, without passion without the desire to play. It is not possible like this.”
Ghana ranks third in Group F with just a point, two points off second placed Sudan.
GFA President, Kurt Okraku can’t come to terms with Black Stars’ 1-1 draw with Niger in their last international match, and expressed his frustration with the result when he addressed the players.
