Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has acknowledged that he anticipates a challenging and closely contested match against Angola, who have already secured their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Black Stars, still aiming for their first win in the current qualifiers, will face the Palancas Negras at Estádio 11 de Novembro for the fifth match of the campaign.
After completing their final training session on Thursday, Addo spoke with the Ghana FA website, stating that although Angola has already qualified, he expects Pedro Gonçalves’ team to present a tough test.
“These are tough games,” he said. “It’s not safe to assume they’ll play at a lower intensity. I know Angola will be 100 percent prepared. Being an away game, it will be very challenging and closely fought.”
Addo added that his players are mentally prepared, emphasizing that now is the time to go all out for their first win, which would keep their qualifying hopes alive.
“I believe the team is mentally ready. This is a chance for our first victory in the competition, a great opportunity to stay in contention.”
Kick-off for the eagerly awaited match is set for 19:00 GMT.
Currently, Ghana stands 4th in Group F with two points from four games, but Niger’s 4-0 win over Sudan on Thursday has kept Ghana’s path to qualification open.
