Ghana’s Michael Obeng, a para-delegate, has been recognized with an honorary award at the 2024 Korean Paralympic Camp (KPC) held in Incheon, South Korea.

Obeng was among 60 participants from various countries, including athletes, coaches, and officials, who gathered at the camp.

The program aimed to equip participants with training and skills in preparation for the 2028 Paralympics, which will take place in Los Angeles.

The Ghanaian contingent, led by Michael Obeng as the delegation’s head, comprised three para-athletes: Akotoh Bryan Baffour Kwadjo, a para-swimmer; Aheto Promise Wonder, also a para-swimmer; and Judith Adu Yeboah, a para-badminton player.

The camp included various activities such as special lectures, a cultural tour of South Korea, and sports training sessions. Key highlights of the program were the opening and closing ceremonies, which featured videos showcasing moments from past camps.

Participants also engaged in hands-on training in swimming, badminton, and Taekwondo.

All participants, including Obeng and his team, were presented with medals and certificates of participation. The organizers of the Korean Para Camp 2024 awarded these recognitions.

In his closing remarks, Michael Obeng expressed heartfelt appreciation to both the organizers and the president of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Samson Deen.

He added, “I also extend my sincere thanks to Mr. Samson Deen, president of NPC-Ghana, for allowing me and the three athletes to be part of KPC 2024.

We have learned so much and look forward to sharing this knowledge back home in Ghana.”

The eight-day program, which ran from November 5 to 13, 2024, provided participants with a unique platform to develop skills and foster international collaboration in para-sports.
