Black Stars legend George Alhassan isn’t impressed with the performance of Black Stars assistant coaches John Paintsil and George Laumann.
His expression comes in the wake of Ghana’s failure to qualify to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco after going winless in six qualification games to finish bottom of Group F standings.
The 1982 AFCON winner said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports as the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo hangs in the balance.
“They should have done better because I don’t see that they are helping the coach himself. I don’t see anything that shows that they are helping the coach. If you are a coach and you have a technical team, you work together with them. Or maybe they are afraid to suggest to the coach. Maybe, everything is the coach so they also sit and watch him but if they worked together, I don’t things like this would have happened.”
Missing out on qualifying to compete next year’s AFCON is the first time Ghana won’t compete in the continental championship in 20 years.
