On Friday, December 27, 2024, the University of Ghana Sports Stadium buzzed with energy as Ghana’s future athletic stars gathered to master the flag football game.

The one-day clinic, hosted by Titans of Africa in partnership with Kiles World Foundation, welcomed over 100 young talents aged 6-18 for an immersive and action-packed training experience.

Now in its fourth year, the clinic is dedicated to identifying and nurturing Ghanaian talent in flag football, a sport set to make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The sessions were led by John Lewis, a fitness and agility trainer based in Atlanta, who focused on enhancing participants’ fitness, speed, and agility.

Lewis emphasized that the clinic aims to discover young athletes with the skills, coachability, and athleticism to represent Ghana on the Olympic stage.

The initiative carries significant importance with Ghana poised to be among the first nations to field athletes in flag football at the Olympics.

Mohammed Osman Nkosi, President and Co-Founder of Titans of Africa, disclosed that the organization provided training kits and footwear to the young participants, ensuring they were well-equipped for the program.

“This clinic is part of a broader effort to tap into Ghana’s immense talent pool. We plan to expand this initiative by organizing similar clinics in all 16 regions of the country,” Nkosi stated.

As Ghana sets its sights on making a mark in the international flag football arena, programs like this clinic are pivotal in discovering and grooming the country’s next generation of sports stars.
