Leicester City Football Club manager, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, has described the ACL season ending injury to Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku as a “massive loss” to the team.

He said this ahead of Leicester’s English Premier League game against Manchester City on Sunday, December 29 at 14:30 GMT as the Black Stars player continues to recover from the devastating injury that has ended his 2024-2025 campaign.

After an up and down start to the season, Issahaku looked to be getting back to form before suffering the injury while on international duties with Ghana in a 2025 AFCON qualifier against Angola in Luanda.

“I think with Fatawu out on a cruciate, that was a big blow just a week before I started. It’s a massive loss for this team” Van Nistelrooy said.

Issahaku picked up his first Man of the Match Award in his debut EPL campaign when he came off the bench and played a key role in 32 minutes in Leicester’s remarkable 3-2 comeback win over Southampton in the lead up to the injury.
