Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has fingered two areas as the main reasons behind low scoring games in the Ghana Premier League.

The tactician pointed to the lack of natural strikers in the league and league teams being better defensively than in attack.

He made this observation in his post-game interview after Kotoko beat Bibiani Gold Stars 2-0 to score its fourth league win in a row.

Despite speaking glowingly about the talent of Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku, Dr. Ogum highlighted the dearth of natural goal scoring forwards in the league. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“Goal scoring has actually been an issue in the league. Again, the nature of the league is such that, it’s very defensive in nature; most of the teams can defend very well” Dr. Ogum said and added that

“Looking at the solidity, the compactness in the defensive structure of all the teams that play in the league, it makes it very difficult to score so that’s why you see a lot of teams sharing points instead of winning.”
