Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has disclosed that he was rooting for Wilfred Osei Kwaku “Palmer” to be voted as President of the football body in the landmark 2019 elections.

The aforementioned elections marked the end of Nyantakyi’s 10+ year reign as GFA President and ushered in the Kurt Okraku era as the lead man for the GFA.

However, in an interview with Lawson FM, Kwesi Nyantakyi slammed the state of Ghana football under Kurt Okraku and added that he was rooting for the Tema Youth FC bank roller, Palmer, to win the Presidential seat. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“A day before the elections…out of the 123 delegates about 60 of them came to my house at night. I spoke to them and they agreed to vote for Kurt Okraku. I was rooting for Osei Palmer to become the President of the Ghana Football Association. I was sad when he was disqualified by the Elections Committee” he said.

Under Kurt Okraku, Ghana has failed to qualify to the AFCON for the first time in 20 years and been eliminated in back to back AFCON editions at the group stage.
