NSA invites tenders to upgrade football pitches to FIFA standards

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced a call for tenders to recondition football pitches across Ghana, aiming to meet FIFA standards and enhance sports infrastructure.

The project seeks to provide world-class playing surfaces that ensure optimal conditions, minimize injury risks, and improve performance throughout the year.

According to a statement on the NSA’s website, the initiative will be funded through the Authority’s budgetary allocation.

“This initiative is crucial for maintaining the quality of football in Ghana and ensuring our players train and compete on world-class surfaces,” the statement emphasized.

The move comes in response to CAF’s earlier ban on the Baba Yara Stadium, which highlighted the need for significant upgrades to playing surfaces in Ghana’s national stadia.

Although CAF later approved Black Stars matches at the Accra Sports Stadium, the NSA and the Ghana Football Association collaborated with a Dutch-based company to assess pitches nationwide, leading to expert recommendations for reconditioning.

Interested bidders can access tender documents through the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (e-GP) portal or at the NSA office on Starlet 91 Road.

Submissions, accompanied by a 2% tender security, must be made electronically by January 6, 2025.

The NSA underscored the importance of the project in boosting player performance and positioning Ghana’s sports facilities to host international events competitively.
