President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) and National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC-Ghana), Samson Deen, has been nominated for the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year Award at the upcoming Metro Sports Awards.

This nomination recognizes Mr. Deen’s remarkable contributions to the development of sports, particularly para-sports, in Ghana and across Africa.

The awards ceremony, slated for January next year, is expected to attract a host of celebrated Ghanaian sports figures, further heightening the anticipation surrounding the event.

Samson Deen’s leadership has been pivotal in advancing para-sports in Ghana, earning him widespread acclaim both locally and internationally.

His efforts culminated in the successful organization of the first-ever African Para Games in Accra, Ghana, from September 3 to 12, 2023—a historic milestone for para-sports on the continent.

Deen faces stiff competition for the Sports Personality award, with other notable nominees including Nations FC owner Dr. Kwame Kyei, Ghana Rugby Association President Herbert Mensah, and Dreams FC coach Karim Zito.

Beyond his nomination, Mr. Deen’s stellar achievements have sparked widespread calls for his appointment as Ghana’s Sports Minister under a potential NDC administration.

Many sports journalists and enthusiasts have lauded his visionary, selfless, and competent leadership, which has significantly elevated Ghana’s para-sports profile.

Winning the Sports Personality of the Year Award would further cement Samson Deen’s legacy as a trailblazer in African para-sports and reinforce his standing as one of the finest sports federation presidents of this generation.
