Spintex Knights Basketball Club have emerged champions of the 2024 Accra Basketball League after sweeping the best of three games finals series.
Knights beat Nungua Coldstore 57-52 in Game 2 of the finals to clinch the title for the second time in a row. Knights won Game One via a 60-45 result.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after the win, Knights Co-Founder Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi described the title win as “challenging”.
“It was very very challenging looking at the fact that we had to be travelling out of the country (to play in the Basketball Africa League) and coming back to play league games…very unusual for the boys because they don’t play that much games in a year but they still got around it and won us our second title.”
Knights competed in the NBA led Basketball Africa League for the first time and made history by becoming the first Ghana basketball club to reach the Elite 16 stage.

However, their quest to make it to the main BAL competition wasn’t successful as Knights missed out on progressing further in the tournament.
