Spintex Knights Basketball Club Co-Founder, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, has called for a holistic approach to develop basketball in Ghana to meet international standards.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the aftermath of Knights participation in the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Knights made history by becoming the first Ghana club to qualify to the Elite 16 stage of the continental basketball championship. However, the club missed out on progressing to the main BAL tournament after a series of qualification games played out in Cote D’Ivoire.

Despite winning the 2024 Accra Basketball League for its second league title in a row, Dr. Opoku-Antwi believes Ghana needs to work to develop the sport to meet international standards. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“I think there is a lot of work that we as a group Spintex Knights need to put in. There is a lot of work that Ghana Basketball Association needs to put in structure wise to get future generations into more of these competitions and also being able to qualify.”
