GPL MD16: Bechem United end Heart of Lions’ winning streak; Medeama hold Kotoko in Tarkwa

Bechem United made a statement with a commanding 3-0 win over league leaders Heart of Lions at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

Dalvin Yeboah’s opener on the stroke of halftime and Emmanuel Abban’s brace in the 46th and 71st minutes secured the victory for the Hunters, who have now won five consecutive matches.

Bechem United climb to fourth place with 29 points, just one behind Heart of Lions, who remain on top with 30 points.

Elsewhere,
Young Apostles FC secured a vital 2-0 home victory over Karela United on Sunday.

Samuel Prempeh opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Emmanuel Fosu Kyei added a second on the hour mark.
With the win, Young Apostles moved to 12th place with 17 points, while Karela United sit just above the relegation zone with 14 points.

At the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex,
Vision FC continued their impressive debut Premier League campaign with a slim 1-0 win over Nsoatreman FC
Abdul Rauf Sulemana’s early goal in the 6th minute proved decisive as Vision FC now occupies 10th place.

Nsoatreman remains in the bottom three, struggling to move out of the drop zone.

In Dormaa,
Solomon Agyei’s 75th-minute strike earned FC Samartex 1996 a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana FC in Dormaa Ahenkro on match day 16.

The win propels Samartex to eighth place, while Aduana, the defending champions, find themselves in 13th position with 17 points.

Meanwhile,
Dreams FC climbed out of the relegation zone with a narrow 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Accra Lions at the Tuba Astro Turf.

Kelvin Ahiable’s decisive goal in the 71st minute marked Dreams FC’s third win of the season, leaving them two points clear of 16th-placed Nsoatreman FC.

In Tarkwa,
Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa.

Kwame Poku opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 43rd minute, marking his second consecutive goal since his return.
Medeama equalized through Kamaradini Mamudu in the second half, with Prince Owusu providing a crucial assist.

Kotoko remains in 5th place with 28 points, while Medeama sits 7th with 25 points from 15 games.

And then – 
Nations FC moved up to third in the table after a dominant 3-1 victory against Basake Holy Stars at home. Captain Razak Simpson gave Nations FC an early lead in the 7th minute, and winger Faisal Charwatey added a second early in the second half.

The win solidifies Nations FC’s position among the league’s top performers.
