Former Black Queens head coach, Nora Hauptle, has shed light on her decision to quit her role as head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team.

The Swiss trainer left her role late in 2024 after leading the Black Queens to qualify to compete in this year’s Women’s AFCON that is set to be held in Morocco.

Prior to her appointment, Ghana had missed out on qualifying to the continental championship; Ghana is one of 12 nations set to play in the tournament that runs from July 5 to July 26.

Speaking in an interview with 20 Minutes, a Swiss media outlet, the former head coach of Israel’s National Women’s Football Team stated that she just couldn’t take compromises while negotiating a new contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

“It wasn’t easy to give up the project. My contract was running out at the end of the year and we had discussions. But there were a few pieces of the puzzle that were not clear, which were relevant to my success.”

“I can’t just make compromises but nothing happened; we are parting on good terms and with a lot of respect for each other” she stated.

Since leaving Ghana, Hauptle has been appointed as head coach of Zambia and will lead the Copper Queens at this year’s WAFCON with Zambia in Group A alongside Morocco, Senegal and DR Congo.
