Ghana football legend Andre Dede Ayew has reacted to a standing ovation he received from fans of Olympique Marseille.

Ayew played 88 minutes in Le Havre Athletic Club’s 5-1 loss to Marseille in The French Ligue 1 this past weekend. He scored Le Havre’s consolation goal in the 85th minute and stated in his post-game interview that he was feeling better physically. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

In the post-game interview, he added that he was touched by the gesture and believed that his sacrifice for the club got him to receive such admiration from Marseille fans.

“I felt really touched, it made me happy. I spent a lot of time here at the club. 11 years at the club and 25 years in all in the city. That (the ovation) showed I did really well for the club. I sacrificed for the club and what we are looking for as players is to leave a mark…I managed to do that at Olympique Marseille.”
