Spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto on Sports for the 2024 Ghana Parliamentary and Presidential Elections, Dr. Fred Awaah, has downplayed the “sports background” of Minister Designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams.
He said this on the sidelines of the 49th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards that had Ghana’s Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, headline the event.
This year’s SWAG Awards had high jumper Rose Yeboah win the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year Award and Bright Kankam Boadu named as Journalist of the Year. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
In response to questions over the sports background of the Sports Minister Designate, Dr. Awaah, indicated that staying disciplined is the key to success and not exactly Kofi Adams’ connection to the Ministry.
“He doesn’t need to be a sports person, he needs to be a disciplined person, he needs to understand the sports policies.”

“He needs to understand the vision of the NDC for the sporting sector in this country and that is enough. A lot of thinking went into choosing him and we are extremely convinced that the regime of Kofi Adams will be one of the best in the sporting history of this country.”
