Liverpool Manager Arne Slot has credited Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirto Santo, for his side’s performances throughout the season.
Nottingham Forest pulled off a shock 1-0 win over Liverpool handing Arne Slot his first and only defeat Anfield and Premier League defeat so far.
When asked about Forest he explained how he admired Nuno for getting the best out of this group with Chris Wood coming in for special praise, Wood who this season became Forest’s leading all-time Premier League goalscorer has 12 goals in 20 appearances;
“They have a hard working team so without the ball they work really hard, Chris Wood, a great example of that, but he’s also a player that can hold the ball and they have, like you said, very fast wingers and players in the midfield that can bring these wingers in promising positions. They excel in counterattacks, but they are not only counterattacks. they can also bring the ball if the ball is on the floor, they hardly take the risk of build up from the goalkeeper, but if they bring the ball to the floor then you can see their quality.”
Concerning their previous meeting Slot explained that Forest’s subsequent performances have helped the initial shock wear off:
“I think every time when Liverpool loses a home game, that is something we don’t expect. I think at that time I also saw the stat that Virgil (van Dijk) played hundred home games for Liverpool and only lost once. So, for us to lose down on that day was for me hard to take as you probably imagine. Now, looking back at it and seeing where they are in the league. It’s not such a shock result as I thought it was back then.”
Liverpool will travel to the City Ground on Tuesday night looking to avenge their lone Premier League defeat of the season.
