Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has given injury updates on key players after his side’s disappointing defeat to strugglers Everton. Spurs have one win in their last six and are languishing in 15th place after 22 games played. Tottenham’s poor form has not been helped by their numerous injuries.
Speaking after the game, the Australian lamented the current injury crisis:
“It’s a pretty extreme situation, you know, we’ve lost three players. significant players, since the last game. We’ve already got sort of seven or eight outs, and you know obviously we lost Dom (Solanke) really late just out of training, so it’s just the run we’re on at the moment, the situation we’re in, you know at some point that will change, we’ll get some players back, but right now it’s just you know the situation we’ve dealt with and the responsibility lies you know squarely with me to try and get us out”
He also gave updates on some of the more recently injured players such as Yves Bissouma and Brennan Johnson:
“Yeah, it’s probably three or four weeks. He (Johnson) did it in the second half against Arsenal the other night so we’re looking at three or four weeks. Bis (Bissouma) was a knock we’re hoping that he should be right by next weekend”
Spurs have had rotten luck with injuries this season as first choice centre back pairing of Mickey van de Ven and Cristian Romero for instance have played 9 and 12 Premier League games respectively this season and have been absent since the 4-3 loss to Chelsea in December whilst goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has not played since the 23rd of November.
Spurs will look to get their season back on track as they host relegation strugglers Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
