President of Ghana Athletics, Bawa Fuseini, has hailed 2024 as the most outstanding year for the sport since his involvement. Ghana made history by hosting the 13th African Games in March, where the nation’s athletes delivered an exceptional performance, winning six medals.

Joseph Paul Amoah claimed gold in the men’s 200m, Evans Cadman triumphed in the men’s high jump, and Rose Yeboah secured gold in the women’s high jump. The men’s 4×100m relay team won silver, while the women’s 4×100m relay team earned bronze.

Team Ghana also competed at the Paris Olympic Games, but the results did not meet expectations. Despite the challenges, the participation itself was a significant milestone, demonstrating the country’s growing presence on the global athletics stage.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Bawa Fuseini emphasized that 2024 remains the best year for Ghana Athletics.
2024 was a blissful year for Ghana Athletics,it is one of the years i cannot compare to any other year since i have started athletics.
we hosted one of the best games on the African continent, the year that only athletics qualified for the Olympics, the year that we won African championship in the relays.
It was the year i won the African best president in athletics and at the same time, SWAG president of the year.
so there are lot of positives but we cannot talk about all these positives without negatives and that is what happened at the Olympics in Paris for Ghana to miss out on 4 x 100.
That was one negative thing in our activities last year, but in all the year was a very good year in terms of administration and athlete performance and our public image, so we hope to repeat 2024 in the coming years.
