Ghana’s National Women’s National Team-the Black Queens- will take on their Moroccan counterparts on February 21, 2025. The competition was scheduled to take place in 2024 but got rescheduled to 2025 due to lingering effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The game marks recently appointed Black Queens head coach Kim Bjorkegren’s debut; the Swedish tactician took over the role from Nora Hauptle who left the position to take over Zambia’s National Women’s Team.
The upcoming game is a friendly tie as preparations continue for the competing nations ahead of the 2025 Women’s AFCON.
This year’s Women’s AFCON takes place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26 with 12 nations set to compete in the continental championship.

The game also marks the Black Queens’ first major friendly outing since losing to Japan 4-0 in a contest that had Portia Boakye sent off.

At this year’s Women’s AFCON, Morocco has been drawn in Group A alongside Zambia, Senegal and DR Congo. Ghana is in Group C with Mali, South Africa and Tanzania.

The top two ranked nations in each group progress to the quarterfinals with two of the best third placed teams after a round robin format of games are completed.
