The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to supporting investigations into the tragic events that unfolded during Asante Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC.
During a meeting with the club’s management at their secretariat, Dr. Dampare stressed the need for football to be a force for unity rather than conflict. (Click highlighted text to watch meeting)
The IGP emphasized that football should be seen as more than just a sport, it is a unifying force that strengthens community bonds.
“We cannot allow another life to be lost over a game meant for entertainment,” he said. “Football, especially at the national level, has the power to bring us together. Even at the local level, it fosters unity.”

“So let’s approach football for what it truly is: a game to be enjoyed, a game to unite us, and a game that enriches our humanity,” he added.
The meeting follows the tragic incident at Nana Koramansah Park, where a devoted Asante Kotoko fan, known as Pooley, lost his life during Matchday 19.
